The main building dates back to the era of sericulture in Montauban. It has survived two centuries before Laure and Valérie embarked on a complete renovation in 2021. This past can still be read in the stones, beams and names of the rooms.
Nineteenth century
The silkworm nursery
The building was built for sericulture, the breeding of silkworms. Mulberry leaves stored on the first floor fed the worms raised upstairs, kept at a constant temperature by seven chimneys. From 1830 onwards, Montauban established itself as a national leader in the butler's gauze market. This domain is part of this industry. The volumes of today's rooms, their ceiling heights, the layout of openings... all still reflect the logic of this production.
1966
The end of sericulture, agricultural conversion
The gradual closure of the weaving mills put an end to the sericulture activity. The estate began to convert to cereal farming, and the surrounding 30 hectares are still farmed organically today. The mulberry trees in Montauban's Jardin des Plantes are direct descendants of those that fed the silkworms in this building.
1981
First renovation
A nature enthusiast undertakes the first renovation of the building. The decision was clear from the outset: restore, not cover. The Toulouse stonework, the exposed beams, the original fireplaces. Every visible detail in the rooms was there before the 2021 renovation.
2021
Laure and Valérie
Two sisters, master builders by trade, bought the estate and began a complete renovation. Their main constraint: to preserve the soul of the place. The rooms were redesigned to accommodate events without betraying their original purpose. Accommodation now sleeps 50. Organic cereal production on the surrounding land is maintained.
Today
The field is still evolving
Each maintenance and renovation project follows the same principles: local materials, Montalban-based service providers, chemical-free park maintenance. The estate has been hosting weddings, seminars and family receptions since it opened in 2024.
We don’t simply cover things up, we restore them. This principle has guided every decision we’ve made since 1981.
The Toulouse stonework, the exposed beams, the original fireplaces. Every visible detail in the rooms was there before the 2021 renovation.
The recommended service providers are from Montalban. Organic cereal production on the surrounding 30 hectares is maintained in short circuits.
Park maintained without chemicals. Renovations designed to last. Local materials for every job.
Since 1981, each owner has made the same choice: not to transform, not to standardize.
